The Local Bodega at Alpera

La Bodega Santa Cruz de Alpera belongs to the appellation Almansa. Located 100km from Alicante and 70km from Albacete and at an altitude between 900 and 1100 meters with calcareous soils and shallow. This winery with over 60 years experience is mainly engaged in the production of wines of high color intensity with an output of between 17 and 23 million kilos of grapes especially Tintorera and minority varieties Grenache and Tempranillo, Syrah and others.

Some of these ungrafted vineyards are over 60 years old. The winery has the latest technology for producing wines complemented by a good job of field technicians and growers. The wines made ​​at Bodegas Santa Cruz are unique in Spain to make wine varietal Grenache monkey Tintorera complemented with other varieties. We also have a room barrels for aging of these magnificent wines and later bottled in our facilities.

Our first objective is to improve the quality, from the vineyard, processing, breeding, to bottling and can meet the new trends in national and international markets. We have the latest technology available for the production and aging of wines.

 

 

Alpera is a municipality in the province of Albacete . This province belongs to the autonomous community of Castilla-La Mancha ( Spain ). It is located 75 km. the provincial capital and 21 of its regional capital ( Almansa ).

In 2014 it had 2,358 inhabitants, according to the INE . It includes the districts of Casas de Don Pedro, Las Fuentes and La Laguna.

It borders the following municipalities: Almansa , Bonnet , Higueruela , Carcelén , Alatoz (all from the province of Albacete ) and Ayora ( Valencia )

The Ayora Valley is one and a half hours from Alicante in the car and 10 minutes from Almansa which comes under the Murcia region.  The train journey from Alicante to Almansa takes only 20 minutes at a cost of approximately 5 euros.

The Ayora valley is made up of 5 small Villages, Ayora, Teresa De Confrentes, Jalance, Zara and Confrentes.  Every Village has a ruin or restored castle.

Ayora is the largest and most central of the Villages.  It is famous for it’s cobbled, winding streets.  Honey is the main product exported from this Village.

The temperatures in this area are a few degrees colder in the Winter.  However, in the Summer the air is warmer and cleaner.

The wild life in these areas are fantastic  -  stags roaming, wild boars, rabbits and wild birds.

The scenery in these Villages are fantastic.  Cave houses, water falls, natural springs, picnic areas, natural park areas, canyons just to name a few.

On the outskirts of Jalance there is a Health Spa.  Complete with 900 chalets, theatre, pools, hairdressers, Church, healing rooms all set in a tranquil environment.

Recently plans for a golf course have been passed for the Jalance area.

Ayora is known for its Bull Running in August and the Honey Festival in October.
